When you google the definition, it says: “the process of renewal and rebuilding accompanying the influx of middle-class or affluent people into deteriorating areas that often displaces poorer residents.”

The definition should say: “the process of dramatic change and remodel accompanying the influx of white middle-class or white affluent people who ransack the rich history and spirit of neighborhoods, which displaces longtime residents and business owners of color, in favor of high-priced homes, eateries, and other establishments that are homogenous to whiteness while renaming the area, as well as stabilizing rent hikes and high property values to keep former residents of color out.”

and then when said middle-class whites start hankering for a new fad/adventure, they leave these places hollow, to decay again. gentrification is altogether colonialist and consumptive.

Mmm hmm. That’s the cycle. The culture and spirit of the community, which is the longtime residents, gets pushed out. Gentrifiers move into the once vibrant now unrecognizable area(s) with their entitlement attitudes, gluten free appetites, yoga mats, invisible jogging lanes, double wide strollers, children leashes, and 9-1-1 readied fingers to call the cops on the few longtime residents (who’ve managed to still live there) for looking “out of place” and/or making “too much noise.” Gentrifiers eventually desire a change of scenery and start eyeballing the next culture-filled area(s) with residents of color to columbus.

Look at this disgusting shit…

There’s no need to even guess who she’s tryna sell this place to and who’s been renting from her via Airbnb. You already know…
